Korean courses start next week!

Hello!

My name is Chanyeolsbathtowel or Lolli for short and I am just letting you know our lovely, brand new and shiny Korean courses will start to appear from next week. Now, you may see some lessons arrive in bulk to begin with but it will settle to once a week once we have a better understanding of our schedule but please do not rush as learning a language takes time. I have included some tips before you start the courses to help you below:

Things you should do before you start learning a new language:

  • Set a clear goal.

Consider whether learning a new language is right for you, decide the exact reason as to why you wish to learn a new language (Travel, business, a hobby) and set a goal for it. This could be reaching a certain level or having a 5 minute conversation.

  • Create a routine.

It is best to try and incorporate learning a new language into an existing routine, on a day you know you have downtime, when learning a new language consistency is key rather than intense and infrequent studying.

  • Build up a ‘language’ toolbox.

This could be a notebook, a google drive or a word document where you keep notes or other useful information for instant lookup.

  • Prepare your mindset.

Be prepared to accept that you will make mistakes and forget details, as humans we will always forget things or make simple mistakes and that’s okay. Work for progress and not perfection and remember the hardest thing for someone to do is speak a language that is out of their comfort zone.

  • Learn to train your ears.

Learning a language requires more listening to vowels and consonants that people think it does, every language has their own sounds and some (Like Korean) have their own sounds which non-native or fluent speakers may not hear to begin with. Our brains are hardwired from birth to understand the sounds of our native language, before you begin learning the language try to listen to it. Watching Movies with subtitles or music can help get used to the sounds before you dive in.

  • Don’t be scared to try it

Many people don’t learn a language they want to learn simply because they don’t want to make mistakes or ‘upset’ people, it is natural to make mistakes but don’t be scared to try it and certainly don’t feel embarrassed for learning.

I hope these tips help you in your learning journey and I can’t wait to start uploading the courses for you!

Lolli :)
